A dental clinic in Netanya fields phone calls in three languages most afternoons: a Hebrew-speaking parent booking a checkup, a Russian-speaking grandmother asking about an emergency appointment, and an English-speaking tourist trying to explain a cracked filling. If the one receptionist on duty only speaks Hebrew and English, the Russian-speaking caller either gets passed to voicemail or gives up and calls a competitor. That's the everyday reality for a huge share of Israeli small businesses, and it's exactly the gap multilingual voice AI is built to close.

Why one language on the phone isn't enough here

Israel's population includes a large Russian-speaking community, over a million people who immigrated from the former Soviet Union, a substantial Hebrew-speaking majority, and a growing base of English-speaking residents, olim, and business travelers. What to actually check before adopting it

Ask any vendor to demonstrate the system with a live, unscripted call in each language you need, not just a canned demo video. Listen specifically for how it handles a caller switching languages partway through, and whether it asks for clarification naturally or just repeats itself.

Also ask what happens when the AI is not confident it understood correctly. A good system hands off to a human agent or takes a message rather than guessing and giving the caller wrong information about their appointment or account.

Starting small makes the rollout more honest

Rather than trying to cover every call type in three languages on day one, it usually works better to launch multilingual voice AI on one narrow, high-volume flow, like appointment confirmations or basic hours-and-location questions, and expand once you've heard how it performs on real calls in each language. A business that gets this right doesn't just save on staffing. It stops quietly turning away a third of its potential callers before anyone ever finds out why.
